The big social area does not have a physical limits or walls: an open space to achieve spaciousness in this public area.

From the main access a line of light guides you, repeating the same tectonic shape that the project gives us, highlighting the amber brown marble floor that covers the entire space accompanied by a perimeter wooden wall.

The entire range of colors was divided into tones to project warmth also by playing with different materials. This area consists of a dining room with a supporting credenza. A modern living room with an irregular shape makes a statement. The bar area consists of a service bar merged with a game table and a counter bar delimited by a lattice to make this space semi-private.

The lighting was projected covering the entire area, lengthening the space to its maximum and highlighting pieces such as the lamps and the magnetic rail. As a focal point we have a calacatta plate that is intervened by the same lighting, making this element a piece of art.

The guest bathroom completely carved like a monolith in marble cote azure gives a sense of elegance but at the same time an unconventional sink that grows from the concrete floor gives an unexpected twist. Accompanying these two elements, a half-moon mirror is proposed, to enlarge the bathroom but at the same time dressing it. _

The elevator opens up to the lobby. It outlines its spatial aesthetic with the visual prominence of the particular background wall: the natural pattern of the panda white marble in black and white evokes the sophistication of a Rorschach; it’sthe first trace of the apartment’s singular design.

A floor to ceiling mirror welcomes us -covering what used to be a window- favoring an immediate intimacy of the lodging. The mirror-wall is arranged perpendicularly to the black and white marble wall. It reflects in turn the main hall in order to intensify the feeling of the infinite. The space opens up and continues with a wooden lambrin, grooved, L-shaped wall that can be appreciated from the entrance: this wall is the vertebral axis which distributes the spaces. All along this wall we find the different doors that open and close, all in high gloss, and the openings of the different rooms.

The living room and the main hall’s dining area concludes with another monochromatic white panda marble piece at the background. This detail clearly echoes the marble at the lobby; it works as well as a hidden credenza for the dining room that will provide service for future guests. The living room’s black macaubas quartzite contrasts the wood from the walls, strengthening a duality that provides equilibrium to the space.

The modular living room furniture and a set of coffee tables -both with matching rounded corners- face a circular painting in a contrasting blue gradient from Atrium gallery. The group of curvy lines provides the interior with dynamism; a terrace functions as the lungs of the main hall by extending their social program to an outdoor dining room. A green wall enlivens the terrace, where a crystal door is the threshold to the connections between interior and exterior, thus enlarging the space visually.

Each corner of the project possesses a careful, functional and aesthetic design. It is detailed in its execution but subtle in its expression, including the service area, kitchen, and cupboards.

In a part of the living room, the wooden grooved wall fades, forming a wooden lattice that gives way to the family room; it is framed by a display case-wall that works as a gallery that reminds us of antique cabinet of curiosities. This display case-wall is enlightened with a warmer color light than the breakfast area and the TV living room that make up the space. The wall displays books, hides the door to the kitchen and shows a collection objects and future art pieces, all displayed in a spectrum from intense colors to gradient blacks and whites. The gray and green sofa in the TV area matches the Verde Alpimarble monolith at the breakfast area’s table.

The general illumination in all the spaces comes from the recessed, linear magnetic tracks by the brand Ilux; they are immersed in the drop ceiling, emphasizing thus the sophistication of the wooden walls. The tracks extend from the living room to the hallways and the family room; there, they constitute the perimeter and then descend, as if trickling down on the wall towards the floor. In addition, there are dramatic hanging lamp accents over the tables of the respective areas such as the Baxter Q3 lamp with 300 light bulbs over the main table. A sculptural floor lamp pairs up with the only visible column between the living room and the dining room.

After discovering the doors leading to the different rooms -hidden behind the wooden grooved lambrin- we can appreciate the guest bathroom that duplicates the interior spatial sensation; bronze mirrors reflect the wood upon the wall and the rossolepanto marble.

The wooden hallway that leads to the rooms is crowned with a reflecting donut-shaped-mirror piece that deforms the orthogonality and breaks with the rigidity of the transitory space. The rooms give continuity to the natural wood finishes on walls and floors, giving off a cozy impression. The headboard in the main room is framed by a grey era silver marble baseboard and by two built-in bookcases. A couple of capitol complex chairs by Cassina and a furry white chair for the dresser match with all the earth tones in the space, thus providing visual uniformity. The main bathroom is covered with black marquina marble on the walls and white thassos marble on the floor with illuminated shelves that resemble counters. These colors generate a contrast with a set of sumptuous materials but in simple ways.

The other bathrooms in the secondary bedrooms are covered in white statuarietto marble; it contrasts with the accessories and the black aluminum screens which, along with the indirect illumination, generate a more intimate sensation. This is articulated in the language of what can be appreciated as a contemporary art deco gesture.

Simple Café is a coffee shop that aims for a relaxed atmosphere in a liminal space between the transition of a busy street in Mexico City and a corporate building.

Just like a large foyer where you can have a coffee break before entering the offices on the busy Sierra Mojada street, this cafe works as a filter from the city, a deep breath before starting your work day an also it could be that moment of calm and slowdown at the end of it.

Taking advantage of the architecture of the building, the program formed by dining areas, sitting areas and service areas, revolves around its constructive elements. The space is also designed as a shop window: something is always happening in each of its areas, fostering a constant flow of people inviting new diners. The space has a white inked oak wood panelling on its walls contrasting with oak wood elements in natural tones. The bar is an extension of the wooden panelling allowing it to be a focal point in harmony with the other materials in its environment. The lighting is provided through different jute and rattan lamps giving a bohemian touch, lighting the bar and the interior and exterior dining areas.

The furniture situated in the same palette of natural and handcrafted materials: chairs, sofas, a swing, rattan pots, jute rugs and tables with natural oak veneer along with the decorative elements on the walls harmonize braided and armed in different textures and fabrics. Different plant pots display a tropical plant palette composed of xanthosomas, monsteras, philodendron and ficus giving cohesion to the entire space.

The heuristic of Casa Serena’s design stresses the functional prominence of each space; at the same time, it articulates a total space through the ornamental elements.

By differentiating the social spaces from the private ones, the intention was to produce a communicating bond based on the finishing touches; these favor an atmospheric contrast between the classical and the artisanal against something very modern. This is achieved by playing with materials such as oak engineered hardwood flooring with an ‘x’ layout, wicker, the different marble monoliths, and brass. A building envelope made of wooden panels in gray tones, with grooves at different distances, gives an almost rhythmic dynamism to that which could be very static. The architectural program adapts to the daily functional use of the clients, a young couple; it consists of a living room, a dining area, a family room, a kitchen, three bedrooms, service areas, and a terrace.

When coming in, a lattice welcomes us: a wicker, brass and metal shelf in the shape of an L; it was fabricated by Baxter and it provides a lobby for the space. The social and most public part accentuates its common area attribute by managing without walls, but by achieving to create enclosure and privacy through the lattice that sections the bar. There, we can find a table and low chairs made with tanned leather for games; adjustable Pedrali stools face a ‘calacatta’ marble monolith used as a counter, illuminated by triplet, suspended lamps made of brass, fabricated by David Pompa. To provide contrast, the flood material changes to a geometric mosaic at the area behind the bar.

The entrance hall gives way to the living room and a dining room crowned by two large RH crystal candelabra. The table’s morphology was proposed to be atypical, achieving something different in the visual realm: it is circular on one side and rectangular on the other. A ‘golden night’ granite was used, which projects the elegance sought by the client. Two types of Bontempi chairs were proposed for this table: in leather texture, brass, and black and wine toned velvet. To one side, we find the modular furniture in texturized and neutral textiles by Bonaldo; a Minotti accent chair made of houndstooth fabric and support tables. The living room stands out due to the pre-eminence of a great ‘alpi’ green marble monolith used as a chimney. This element is flanked by a series of brass, oval shaped mirror-columns, which add depth and spaciousness as well as an harmonic proportionality to the area.

The hall leads to a long aisle where art hangs from its walls and is exposed to the different spaces of private character. The family room is at the end: the only space open to the aisle. It is visually delimited by a brass lattice formed by rails, framed by mirrors to give an effect of infinity, and the idea of a more private place. This room is composed by an RH modular furniture and a counter in the back part which functions as a room presiding the dining room. The range of colors within the blue spectrum in this space projects calm and rest. This long aisle’s visual finishing touch is an element faceted in two parts: one with a black, wooden panel, similar to the one in the aisle; the other, in the bronze mirror, which plays with the diagonals and depth. Actually, this element reveals itself as a door: as an access threshold to the main bedroom.

The warm environment of the spacious main bedroom is achieved through the wooden finishes: the walls are made of wood panels in the upper part and other routed ones of the same kind; this creates an envelope for the spaces by hiding the bathroom and closet doors. The bedroom echoes the public areas by being divided by a bookcase-lattice that works as a lobby, but also as a support for its hall or reading space. Among the outstanding pieces of furniture in this space we can spot a table and two leather chairs by Henge, and the bed with its major headboard in texturized velvet, for the most intimate area.

A classic and leading red marquee crowns the entrance hall with an opening of 180 degrees. This main door leads to the bar and to a wall of photographs, as well as to an interesting selection of graphics by different artists and designers.

Los Angeles, California

The austerity in the shapes of the furniture elegantly contrasts with the eclectic design from the wall's finishes and the wood and marble floors. The different heights of the ceilings and the furniture, with its diverse textures, create cozy environments for the diners savoring the culinary art of chef Dante Ferrero.

The high ceilings of the terrace are topped with a retractable roof that allows the entrance of natural ventilation and light. When the partitions are all open, the main view is LA.

Wooden beams on the ceiling produce a parasol and a play of lights create the environment of a traditional steakhouse that is not only designed for business meetings, but also open to other kinds of conversation.

In addition to the trend of providing architectural solutions for escaping and resting, Casa Parián is a country house located in a rural Jiutepec Morelos. A project isolated from the overcrowded city.

The design aims to create a welcoming and cozy environment. The house seeks natural materials and subtle finishes according to its context : Veracruz travertine marble on the floors and a walnut-treated wood trim that scales up to double heights, wooden beams on the ceilings give a rustic air and drama to the perspective of the house visually elongating the spaces. Together, the materials conceal the limits between the rooms of the project giving a feeling of a single spaciousness. The same gesture is repeated in the rooms, providing unity to their environments.

Jiutepec, Morelos.

The architectural program is made up of the public part on the ground floor: dining room, living room and terrace, and the private part located on the upper floor with four bedrooms and their terraces. The transitional space that joints them are the double heights lined with wood, the linear blacksmith staircase and the bridge to the rooms on glass railings. The lighting comes from various handcrafted wall and hanging wick and rattan lamps.

The furniture harmonizes with the materials in a neutral palette. Built-in furniture was specifically designed from stained oak wood and stones such as travertine silver. The beds and the living room are from Gervasoni, the tables, chairs and bureaus are from Restoration Hardware and the stools and accessories from Cb2.

One piece stands out in the double height, designed hand to hand with Caralarga: a monumental cotton fabric that simulates a waterfall, providing a touch of lightness and dynamism to the wall of the living room.

The goal is to create a central mobility to the residential, and that each area with its prominence is given a use, but that it is part of a whole, of an environment. Adding to the program pools for adults, children's pools, beach club and restaurant next to the beach, creating an oasis and a place of rest.

To avoid a large ecological footprint, it has been built with local vegetation, lighting design and furniture made by local people.

The central axis of the house becomes the characteristic chess pool, creating a visual impact attached to the panoramic views of guitarrón and la concha breezes. The pool becomes an envelope, creates a distinctive energy, but at the same time solid and simple, incorporating fresh colors in shades of blue, emanating the sea.

Annexed to the pool, a sunbathing area is incorporated that is born from it, creating sensations that you are inside it but at the same time floating on it. Helping the pool, we find a palapa with the same chess set and a palm roof, which provides service and the pool, that the same shape would fulfill the function and comfort of the client. The perimeter materiality of the pool was to find a neutral that was in harmony with the bicolor grid (pink mocha marble), and that at the same time the furniture contrasted with intense colors such as red and blue.

A pergola was included for a sun rest area, with a structure of wooden logs and roofs with bamboo. Incorporating hanging rattan lamps and bright colors in the furniture.

The architectural programme of the garden includes a conversation pit surrounding a fire pit. A living room typology filled of nostalgia from the 60’s made for the so needed gathering and interchange of today.

Different textures compose the garden of the house waiting for the patina of time and the growth of new vegetation of endemic species. The latticework of the serpentinous brick fence allows you to see the slope of the land duplicating the size garden.

Inside, a black oak wood casing with brass details is the main element that transforms and covers walls, hides bathroom and closet doors and becomes furniture and bookcase. All the spaces are determined by its morphology giving them a visual identity.

The floor to ceiling modern windows are made so the garden could fill the interior spaces but also for its inhabitants to appropriate the whole landscape.

Regardless of its lack of display windows, the store attracts you in. The main element inside is a stereotomic wood structure that grows as a column and evolves into a soffit, creating depth and dynamism in the entire space.

The floor and furniture are all made in a monochromatic concrete to avoid stealing the limelight of the colors and textures from the clothes exhibited.

A set of mirrors enlarges the space and replicates the repetitive effect of the wood tree; the modernist furniture was recovered from the forties. In the stairs, a color play keeps feng-shui philosophy in mind. All of these elements together make up the design of this avant-garde store.

The wood panelings and the sensation of comfort in the living room are also present in the soffit and in the floor of the room. In the hall, an overlap of planes form the soffits–the framework and main structure of the living room. They also match with the black frames. Its hidden lighting does not produce direct light, creating a seductive atmosphere.

The finishes in the lobby area, the reception desk, the steps, and the after area or juice bar are designed and built monolithically with exposed concrete. Amongst the sculptural furniture the steps with organic shapes–inspired by cammo prints– stand out and bring movement into the space. The interior design is complemented by industrial lighting and exposed installations, graphics in grayscale, details in red and black, furniture that plays with elements–such as steel tubes used to create benches in the dressing rooms, and red lighting for the workout room; all of these detonate the main concept: a dynamic and energetic design.

Working as the walls, latticework, soffits, and built-in furniture, large walnut clamps made with wood slats cover the different rooms that make up the architectural design. A wide variety of weaves is displayed in each space, leaving the most complex ones for the private areas.

At moments, it seems as if the apartment was carved from an enormous block of wood, its livable spaces created within the gaps.

A game in the relationship between public and private space revolves around the essence of the project: the living room or living/dining room is divided by a big V-shaped beam that works as a sculptural lattice. The private areas are located around the living room: the bedroom and the service areas are hidden behind doors that are camouflaged by the white wood walls decorated with frames. This playful gesture invites you to appropriate of the interior space through discovery.

Once the mystery is revealed, the interior design is filled with textures, warm lights, and monochromatic finishes, like marbles, wooden floors, and steel. Color is present in the accessories and furniture–also designed by Studio91, creating a cozy and sensual concept that echoes the great salons from old mansions and palaces.

A full intervention to the insides of a house in Bosque de las Lomas brings it into modernity.

The new finishes in wood and the eclectic and modern furniture create a contrast with the entire façade of the project. The design, based in detailed interventions, achieves conveying a total renovation of the space. Two Tom Dixon lamps trace the path of the main staircase. The neutral finishes with contrasting prints and golden touches abound in every space. A terrace was attached to the house with walls and a ceiling in perforated concrete, creating skylights. Severe gestures, such as a 10-meter-long black bookcase filled with white contrasting objects and the monumental JJ XL lamp, complement the space.

Fifty people occupy a production office located inside a high-rise building in Reforma-Palmas, one of the most active avenues in Mexico City.

The design program of the tower is defined by its LEED Certification, which also determines the specifications for finishes and materials to guarantee a minor ecological footprint. Its sculptural lobby in subway ceramic tiles and its display with itinerant content on cinema gives a preview of what is happening inside.

The lobby is just a part of the heart or hub that traces a radial hierarchy from its center. This space has a multi-use program. For example, there is an amphitheater that can be isolated with the use of a curtain to watch movies or short-films, to have a conference or an interview; next to it there are areas for small meetings or for having a break. Here we also have the whiteboard wall, demonstrating that this is an office in a permanent creative process, with ideas that are open and accessible to everyone. The bar takes us to a cafe or a bar, it promotes an atmosphere of reliability: The best conversations and treatments take place in a bar.

Around the hub is the area of offices with worktables covered in ribbed concrete slabs; its high-ceilings transmit a feeling of openness and spaciousness. On the side of the building's façade, we have the private offices for directors and assistant directors, as well as the meetings room; all of which have windows facing the avenue. These offices are separated by glass walls; its wooden ceilings and floors have a chevron or herringbone arrangement to differentiate them and to create a stronger effect of privacy in comparison to the other spaces.
